译文
天久不雨，土地坚硬，牛拉着沉重的犁耙，喘着粗气一步一步地爬行着。牛蹄碰击着坚硬的土块，发出“趵趵”的声音。驾牛的农民还嫌牛走得太慢，不断地挥动着鞭子，发出“咤咤”的声音，驱使着，吆喝着。然而农民终年劳累，用血和汗水换来的珍珠般的果实，却尽进了官仓，自己一无所得。因为六十年来，战争不断，年年月月、日日餐餐，官兵们吃的粮食全由农民供给，并由农民驾驶的大车不停地运往前线。自从官军征伐藩镇的战争开始以来，朝廷就把农民连人带牛和车以及农具一并征用了。农民驱牛驾车千里迢迢地把粮食运到前线后，结果连牛也被官兵宰杀吃掉了，农民只收得两只牛角而返。但是战争还在没完没了地打下去，新的军输又在等待着他们。农民只得重铸犁锄，重做斤，重新开始一年的辛勤耕作，收获之后，运到官仓，终年辛勤劳动所获还交不够，甚至回来连房屋也被迫卖掉买粮纳税。但愿官军早日胜利，以报藩镇叛乱的仇恨，我们不要紧，累死了还有下一代，牛被杀了还有小牛犊，不会让官军的军粮缺少的。
注释
咤咤：农民的叱牛声。确确：土块坚硬的样子。趵趵：牛蹄声。
簇簇：丛集的样子，此处以兵器的丛集象征战事的频繁。
辘辘：车轮声。象征着农民军输的繁重和急迫。
斤：泛指农具。斤，斧子一类的工具。锄一类的农具。
覆：覆灭，灭亡。
田家词鉴赏
元和十二年（817），元稹得刘猛、李余古题乐府诗数十首，读后感动万分，于是和作了十九首，把他在江陵、通州的所见所闻一一写进这组古题乐府诗里。《田家词》就是其中的一首，这首诗生动形象地表达了他“息兵革”的政治主张。此诗在艺术上很有特色。它自始至终几乎完全用农民自述的口吻、用白描的手法叙事，在貌似平和顺从的话语里，表现了农民痛苦的心声，蕴涵着农民的血泪控诉，因而具有更大的真实性和感人肺腑的力量。再加上短句的安排，叠字的选用，急促重浊的入声字的韵脚，不仅加强了诗的形象性和音乐性，声情和文情更加契合，深化主题，强化了感情，渲染了气氛，而且使这首古题乐府的特色更加鲜明。这正是元稹“颇近讴谣”的代表作。

元稹（779年－831年，或唐代宗大历十四年至文宗大和五年），字微之，别字威明，唐洛阳人（今河南洛阳）。父元宽，母郑氏。为北魏宗室鲜卑族拓跋部后裔，是什翼犍之十四世孙。早年和白居易共同提倡“新乐府”。世人常把他和白居易并称“元白”。
