译文
一夜之间，炎炎烈日的晴空，忽然降下了渴望已久的甘霖；我在睡梦中惊醒，只觉得浑身舒适，凉气沁人。
我不愁屋子会漏雨，淋湿我的床；只是欣喜溪流中涨满了雨水，不用再为干旱担心。
我想，那千里平野上，喝够了水的稻子一定是葱绿一片；于是觉得，这五更天雨水敲打着梧桐，是那么的动听。
像我这没有田地的人尚且欢欣鼓舞，更何况田间的农夫，祈望着丰年，该是多么的高兴。

苏秀：苏，今江苏苏州。秀，秀州，今浙江嘉兴。
苏：指干旱后的稻苗因雨水复苏了。
骄阳：猛烈的阳光。
霖：一连数日的大雨。
梦回：从梦中醒来。
最佳音：这里指雨打梧桐的声音。
望岁：盼望丰收年成。岁，指一年的农事收成。

苏秀道中创作背景
夏秋之交，天大旱，庄稼枯萎。诗人由苏州去嘉兴途中，自七月二十五日起接连下了三天大雨，水稻复苏，旱情解除。诗人怀着欣喜的心情，写下了这首七律。曾几于高宗绍兴年间曾为浙西提刑，这首诗可能作于浙西任上。

苏秀道中鉴赏
这是一首充满轻快旋律和酣畅情致的喜雨诗。这年夏秋间，久晴不雨，秋禾枯焦。至七月二十五日夜间止，大雨三日，庄稼得救。久旱遇雨，欣喜若狂，连衣服、床铺湿了也顾不得，表达了诗人的喜雨之情和对民生的关注。诗人欢欣鼓舞，写了这首七律。
首联写喜雨，从晚上下雨写起。“一夕骄阳”与“梦回凉冷”是鲜明的对比。诗人在闷热的天气中入睡，一觉醒来，白天烈日的余威已被全部扫除，代之以清凉舒适的夜风，原来天下起了大雨。这两句虽然是实事实写，但由原先对气候的不满忽地改变成很满意，细微地反映了诗人心中的喜悦。诗人同时又选了“梦回”这一时刻，来表达自己这份心情，更加显出意外地惊喜———这场雨，诗人已经盼望很久了。
次联写对雨的感受，用江西诗派诗人的惯技，融化前人诗句为己用。出句“不愁屋漏床床湿”，用杜甫《茅屋为秋风所破歌》“床头屋漏无干处”句；对句“且喜溪流岸岸深”，用杜甫《春日江村》“春流岸岸深”句。诗虽用前人成句，但贴切眼前景事，与首联一意相贯，在原句基础上加了“不愁”、“且喜”二语，在旧句上翻出了新意，达到了能生能活而自成佳句的要求。诗是写听雨，又形象地道出了盼雨的心情，也隐隐表示自己的喜雨不单单是因为大雨赶走了炎热，带来了凉爽，这就引伏第三联的情感，也为尾联预留地步，所以元方回评说这联写得流动便利。
第三联仍写喜雨。一句是想象之辞，说明自己喜雨，是因为这场及时雨，使庄稼能喝个饱，秋收有望；一句是以听雨打桐叶，寄托自己欣喜的心情。江西诗派学杜，在炼字上花工夫，尤注重虚字的锤炼。这联中的“应”字、“最”字，都下得很有精神，加深了句意。不过，出句的“千里稻花应秀色”，也见唐殷尧藩《喜雨》诗，不知是偶同还是有意袭用。钱钟书《宋诗选注》对这联的对句有独到的评价：“在古代诗歌里，秋夜听雨打梧桐照例是个教人失眠添闷的境界，像唐人刘媛的《长门怨》说：‘雨滴梧桐秋夜长，愁心和雨断昭阳。泪痕不学君恩断，拭却千行更万行。’又如温庭筠《更漏子》词说：‘梧桐树，三更雨，不道离情正苦。一叶叶，一声声，空阶滴到明。’……曾几这里来了个旧调翻新，听见梧桐上的潇潇冷雨，就想象庄稼的欣欣生意，假使他睡不着，那也是‘喜而不寐’。”这段话，对我们理解这句诗很有帮助。当然，说到底，这样的写法就是将旧事翻新，打破常规，也就是江西诗派要求的“以俗为雅，以故为新”及“脱胎换骨”。
尾联纯抒情，把原来的情感更转高一层，说遇到了这样的好雨，像我这没有田地的人尚且如此高兴，更何况那些盼望丰收、渴求雨水的农夫们呢？诗用“犹”、“何况”数字承先启后，是故意通过自抑而达到高涨。正因为诗人没田，他的欢欣鼓舞才有更深的意义，他与民同乐的心意也完全表达了出来，所以清纪昀评说：“精神饱满，一结尤完足酣畅。”
这首诗从谋篇到句法，都是典型的江西诗派风格。但诗写得情真意切，所以不觉得峭硬。尤其可贵的是，江西诗派学杜，常常表现在技巧上；这首诗学杜，除技巧外，还学习了杜诗关心民瘼，注意在诗歌中树立自我形象，讲究诗格，所以更为成功。

曾几（1085--1166）中国南宋诗人。字吉甫，自号茶山居士。其先赣州（今江西赣县）人，徙居河南府（今河南洛阳）。历任江西、浙西提刑、秘书少监、礼部侍郎。曾几学识渊博，勤于政事。他的学生陆游替他作《墓志铭》，称他“治经学道之余，发于文章，雅正纯粹，而诗尤工。”后人将其列入江西诗派。其诗多属抒情遣兴、唱酬题赠之作，闲雅清淡。五、七言律诗讲究对仗自然，气韵疏畅。古体如《赠空上人》，近体诗如《南山除夜》等，均见功力。所著《易释象》及文集已佚。《四库全书》有《茶山集》8卷，辑自《永乐大典》。
