译文
如今我又一次来到梦中享尽繁华富贵的邯郸道上，这绝不是因为山中人要价太高才能实现自己归隐的愿望，而是自己多年来无法逃脱功名这个虚名罢了。我也经常自己嘲讽自己。在“功名”这个问题上，又有谁能一下子惊悟觉醒，即就是到了两鬓斑白的老年，还是这样。
注释
金字经：曲牌名。
邯郸：在今河北省南部。驿：驿站。元代京官外调，往往在这里暂住，换车马。
梦中邯郸道：即“黄粱美梦”，喻指人世间的富贵终是如梦一场。
山人：隐居山中的人。
晓霜：白头发。
金字经·梦中邯郸道创作背景
这首“金字经”是写他夜宿邯郸驿舍的感触。邯郸在今河北省南部。根据作者的生平经历，人们可以推定这是他第二次就任燕南河北道提刑按察司时的作品，那时他已经六十多岁了。

金字经·梦中邯郸道鉴赏
“梦中邯郸道，又来走这遭”，一个“又”字点出卢挚故地重游，再次走上邯郸官道的事实。此处引用唐代传奇沈既济《枕中记》中的典故，卢生在邯郸道遇吕翁，枕着吕翁赠送的磁枕人梦，在梦中历经荣华富贵，一觉醒来却发现主人灶上的黄粱尚未蒸熟，由此领悟得失富贵不过是一场梦的道理。
对这一典故的引用，同作者自身经历密不可分。卢挚在燕南任官之前，他曾任皇帝的侍从之臣、按察使、廉访使、翰林学士等要职，可以说是享尽了荣华富贵。此次赴任恰好经由“黄粱一梦”故事的地点，故事主人公的姓氏又与他相同，这些巧合促使他产生了过尽铅华、豁然梦醒的感觉。
接下来“须不是”三句，承接上文，表达自己并非无归隐之心，而是无法抗拒名利的诱惑。其中“山人索价高”意为，山中人索要高价才允许作者入山归隐，联系前面“须不是”三个字来看，直白地道出他的自嘲之意：他深知并不是归隐的代价太高，而是因为“虚名无处逃”，这五个字用风趣的笔法交代了他无法归隐的原因，即功名的引诱让人无处可逃。
“谁惊觉，晓霜侵鬓毛”两句作为结尾，将卢挚已经这把年纪还不能看开名利的自我感伤表达得淋漓尽致。“谁惊觉”三个字写出了光阴流逝之快，也写出了他蓦然回首有所感悟却无力改变现状的无可奈何。
全曲有很明确的主题性，语句上下承接，脉络清晰，但所表达的情绪却是矛盾的。卢挚用自我嘲讽的笔法写出他在归隐和继续为官两种选择之间摇摆的心情，这在那个时代很有代表性。

卢挚（1242-1314），字处道，一字莘老；号疏斋，又号蒿翁。元代涿郡（今河北省涿县）人。至元5年(1268)进士，任过廉访使、翰林学士。诗文与刘因、姚燧齐名，世称“刘卢”、“姚卢”。与白朴、马致远、珠帘秀均有交往。散曲如今仅存小令。著有《疏斋集》（已佚）《文心选诀》《文章宗旨》,传世散曲一百二十首。有的写山林逸趣，有的写诗酒生活，而较多的是“怀古”，抒发对故国的怀念。今人有《卢疏斋集辑存》，《全元散曲》录存其小令。
