译文
万里飘渺的蓬莱，在梦里我坐一叶扁舟而去。在那仙山岛屿中盘桓找寻神仙。其中必有到达仙山的道路。
海面上倒映着神山仙阁，随波而显得层层叠叠的。那陡峭的海岸像大锯剖开一样，连系舟的地方都没有。
注释
点绛唇：词牌名，此调因江淹《咏美人春游》诗中有“白雪凝琼貌，明珠点绛唇”句而取名。四十一字。上阕四句，从第二句起用三仄韵；下阕五句，亦从第二句起用四仄韵。
蓬壶：即蓬莱。
萦回：盘旋往复。
层层俯：楼台之水中倒影。
断崖：陡峭的山崖。
停桡[ráo]处：可以停船登岸之处。

点绛唇·万顷蓬壶创作背景
此词作于1905年，当时正处于中国新旧交替的时刻，国内的知识分子们渴望开辟未来，但又不得其门而入，王国维也像这些知识分子一样感到迷茫和无助，所以就把这种迷茫寄托于梦境与仙境之中抒发出来。

点绛唇·万顷蓬壶鉴赏
王国维的这首《点绛唇》词借梦中寻仙，来表达内心的彷徨与焦虑。
王国维这首词，就是以纪梦的方式写对蓬莱神山的追求。“万顷蓬壶，梦中昨夜扁舟去”虽然只是简单的叙述，但字里行间已有一种比较强烈的感发。“蓬壶”已经是无数前人历尽千辛万苦也难以长到的仙岛，“万顷”又是一个茫茫无边的广大区域；而“梦中昨夜”是多么短暂仓促，“扁舟”又是多么渺小轻微。这是远大、艰难，与仓促、简陋之间的对比，就突出了人的意志之坚强与实力之薄弱。“索回岛屿。中有舟行路”是已经进入神山海域，在群岛之间穿行，目标近在咫尺。这两句，让人感受到一种经过千难万险之后终于接近目的地的兴奋和对继续有新发现的渴望。
“波上楼台，波底层层俯”就是新的发现，这是写神山仙阁及其水中的倒影。这首词写层层楼倒立于水中，又多了一种光怪迷离的感受。这种感受，与梦的环境是相合的。“断崖如锯，不见停桡处”就像用一把天工开物的大锯把高山纵向锯开的剖面，那么陡峭那么光滑，不要说向上攀登，就是一个可以系缆停船的地方都找不到。所谓“天道幽远难求”，从希望到失望，从坚持到困惑，虽说只是一个梦，但它写出了一个追求者在追求探索的道路中真实的心理历程。
这首小词就以纪梦和游仙的方式表现了这种可望而不可及，内心的痛苦与焦虑。
