译文
黄昏时节的风雨笼罩着全城，船舶上钱行的宴席还没有结束。风雨声中的阖闾城，这些乐曲让人不忍倾听。
只怪当时和朋友们走动得过于密切，才导致今日的离别如此痛苦。当宴会结束，我酒醉微醒时，回想平生所历之事，不由得心生感慨啊！
注释
浣溪沙：原为唐教坊曲名，后用为词牌名。此调分平仄两体，字数以四十二字居多，最早采用此调的是唐人韩偓，通常以其词《浣溪沙·宿醉离愁慢髻鬟》为正体。正体双调四十二字，上片三句三平韵，下片三句两平韵。
画舫（fǎng）：装饰华美的游船。
离筵（yán）：饯别的宴席。
潇潇：形容雨声。
阖（hé）闾（lǘ）城：苏州的别称。亦作“阖庐城”。
形影密：谓关系亲密，总不分离。形影，人的形体与影子。
日：《王国维遗书》作“朝”，《甲稿》及《王忠悫公遗书》皆作“日”。
别离轻：谓轻易别离。

浣溪沙·画舫离筵乐未停创作背景
1905年11月，罗振玉以父丧辞江苏师范学堂监督事，王国维不久亦辞职归里。1906年词人即将离开苏州，北上进京，友人为其设宴钱行，伤感的离筵上，词人填了这首词，当为送别罗振玉之作。

浣溪沙·画舫离筵乐未停鉴赏
词上片是写离开苏州时饯别酒宴上的情景。“潇潇”两句：典出白居易《寄殷协律》诗：“吴娘暮雨潇潇曲，自别江南更不闻。”白居易自注：“江南吴二娘曲云：‘暮雨潇潇郎不归。’”白居易是感叹自从离开江南后，再也听不到吴娘婉转缠绵的歌声了。这首词变用其意。作者跳跃过“酒趁哀弦，灯照离席”的等待，跳跃过“执手相看泪眼”的留恋，把满腔悲苦都倾泻在对造成离别痛苦之原因的追究和检讨上。
词下片联语写罗、王交往关系，是这首小词的高潮，也是词中离别之悲的极致。昔人离别怨天怨命，怨雨怨风，而作者在这里却别出心裁，把离别的痛苦归罪于当初不该与对方建立了如此亲密的友谊。“既有今日，何必当初”两句乃是一种“反语”和“愤语”，是今日不得不轻易离别的悲痛竟导致了对当日相知相识之乐的否定。“忆平生”，其中自有深意，忆自己八年间，由于罗氏的赏识、扶持，才能在治学的道路上猛进。对罗氏的感激之情，只是含意未伸罢了。末句深化主题，由眼前别离之痛苦，升华至整个人生命运的慨叹。
这首小词完全是写离别之意，从一个离别的事件引向了《人间词》所追求的那种反映人生和反映哲理的层次。词中写梦醒之后的感觉，这往往有一种对人生的反省和了悟。
