译文
祖国沉沦危亡忍不住感叹，东渡日本寻找革命同志。国土被列强瓜分需要收复，为国家敢于牺牲自己的身体。
叹路途之艰险梗塞，感慨自身漂泊无依。虽然远隔万里也要赴日留学。人们休要说女子不能成为英雄，连我那挂在墙上的宝剑，也不甘于雌伏鞘中，而夜夜在鞘中作龙吟。
注释
沉沦：沉没，危亡的意思。
不禁（jīn）：忍不住。
海外：指日本。作者曾东渡日本留学。
知音：这里指革命同志。
金瓯（ōu）已缺：指国土被列强瓜分。《南史·朱异传》：“我国家犹若金瓯，无一伤缺。”金瓯：金的盆盂。比喻疆土之完固。亦用于指国土。
嗟（jiē）险阻：叹路途之艰险梗塞。
叹飘零：感慨自身漂泊无依。
关山万里：指赴日留学。《木兰诗》：“万里赴戎机，关山度若飞”。
作雄行：指女扮男装。
英物：杰出的人物。
龙泉：宝剑名：雷焕于丰城狱基掘得二剑， 一名龙泉，一名太阿。晋王嘉《拾遗记·颛顼（xū）》：“（颛顼）有曳影之剑，腾空而舒，若四方有兵，此剑则飞起指其方，则剋伐，未用之时，常于匣里，如龙虎之吟。”

鹧鸪天·祖国沉沦感不禁创作背景
中日甲午战争后，清朝帝国已经岌岌可危、风雨飘摇。为了寻找革命道路，1904年（光绪三十年），词人赴日留学，并在日本加入了光复会、同盟会，从此走上救亡图存的革命道路。该词为赴日不久的作品，创作时间约为1904年。

鹧鸪天·祖国沉沦感不禁鉴赏
上片“祖国沉沦感不禁，闲来海外觅知音”，道是“闲”字，但有感于祖国沉沦，却未必有“闲”情。开篇两句，点明此行日本的缘由，也点出了国内的政治局势。“金瓯已缺终须补，为国牺牲敢惜身”，其时列强瓜分中国，堂堂礼仪之邦，却是衣冠委地，词人一拍桌案，声音陡然一扬：“为国牺牲敢惜身？”一句反问，慷慨激昂，掷地有声。
下片“嗟险阻，叹飘零。关山万里作雄行。”换头一折，疏疏三笔，将一路多少霜风雨雪，轻轻囊括。是蹉跎，是舛磨，阳光寂灭，风雨鲜活。她是一个革命者，不能也不会为了这些而放慢脚步。有了这样的信念，关山万里，层云几重，一名女子，改换上男儿的装扮，一叶槎枒，飘扬过了大海。“休言女子非英物，夜夜龙泉壁上鸣”，歇拍一韵，似洞天石扉，訇然中开。只恨苍天，“苦将侬，强派作蛾眉，殊未屑”；只求如今，“算平生肝胆，因人常热”。“休言女子非英物，夜夜龙泉壁上鸣”把秋瑾以身许国的决心和敢作雄飞的魄力，展现得淋漓尽致。
该词峥嵘风骨，撑起的正是词人飒爽的英姿。

秋瑾（1875年11月8日－1907年7月15日），女，中国女权和女学思想的倡导者，近代民主革命志士。第一批为推翻满清政权和数千年封建统治而牺牲的革命先驱，为辛亥革命做出了巨大贡献；提倡女权女学，为妇女解放运动的发展起到了巨大的推动作用。1907年7月15日凌晨，秋瑾从容就义于绍兴轩亭口，年仅32岁。
