《九日登长城关楼》鉴赏
原文
危楼百尺跨长城，雉堞秋高气肃清。
绝塞平川开堑垒，排空斥堠扬旗旌。
已闻胡出河南境，不用兵屯细柳营。
极喜御戎全上策，倚栏长啸晚烟横。
赏析
这是一首由修筑长城的将领写的长城诗。长城关气势雄伟，登高远眺，朔方形势尽显眼底。此诗描写作者重阳节登上长城关楼时所见的雄阔景色，并以听到敌军已撤出黄河以南地区，军中不用再戒备森严的消息，来衬托修筑长城的作用和意义。全诗洋溢着豪迈兴奋的感情，这在众多的长城诗中并不多见。
王琼在灵州、花马池等地留下了足迹和诗文，他的诗反映出明代边防的严酷现实和他忠于国事、勤劳为政的可贵精神。

王琼（公元1459—1532），明朝军事人物，历事成化、弘治、正德和嘉靖四个皇帝，由工部主事六品之官，直做到户部、兵部和吏部尚书一品大员。王琼一生做了三件被人称赞的大事。一是治理漕河；二是，平定宸濠叛乱；三是，总制西北边防。因此，历史上称他和于谦、张居正为明代三重臣。
