吾乡地势高，水田连山麓。不畏大雨霖，但畏骄阳曝。
今年交夏令，雨仅沾霢霂。秧针初插时，秧水已不足。
尚有未耕田，专待雨如瀑。何期一月来，痴龙竟藏伏。
青苗萎欲死，水田乾成陆。即欲播杂种，亦视土膏沃。
霖雨既愆期，安望种能熟。似此荒象成，争向县官告。
县官摇手言，报灾君且莫。国债急如火，更比骄阳酷。
杂税且加赢，正赋乌能缩。急将夏税完，免与施敲扑。
君国不暇顾，何暇顾民瘼。施赈官无钱，平籴仓无谷。
转瞬开冬漕，尔再毋轻渎。乡民闻此言，齐声问一哭。

字少泉，又字瑞生。同治癸酉优贡，历署河南上蔡，宁陵陈留县知事，升用直隶州知州。著有《爱吾庐诗钞》。先生诗宗香山，为人朴讷谨愿，胸无城府。严取与，辨义利，交久益敬。乡里后进有一才一艺者，必为之揄扬不置。需次汴垣，兼藉课徒自给，春秋榜发售者踵接。徐东海相国、朱古薇侍郎其尤著者也。宰上蔡日，终日堂皇，清理狱讼，不三月，囹圄一空。宁陵亦然。调署陈留二年，学道爱人，宽猛相济，政绩尤著。先生五十书怀诗有“两载民情水乳融”之句。年五十一，即自劾旋里。春秋佳日，惟与二三知已饮酒赋诗，不问门以外事，时论高之。
