长江浩浩西来，水面云山，山上楼台。山水相连，楼台相对，天与安排。诗句成云山动色，酒杯倾天地忘怀。醉眼睁开，遥望蓬莱，一半儿云遮，一半儿烟霾。
译文：长江水浩浩荡荡一泻千里的从西而来，到了镇江附近，突然出现巍峨金山在江中突兀而起，山上楼台更是奇观。山和水相连着，楼台相对着，真是天所安排。在这胜景中，要举杯痛饮，乘兴赋诗，连风云烟霞好像也为之变色，倾天地而忘怀。当从酣睡中睁开朦胧的眼睛时，只见眼前金山若隐若现，一些儿被云雾笼罩，一半儿陷于烟霾之中，像是海上的蓬莱仙山。
注释：折桂令：折桂令系曲牌名，属北曲双调，正格是六﹑四﹑四﹑四﹑四﹑四﹑七﹑七﹑四﹑四（十句），但是第五句以后可酌增四字句。或单用作小令，或用在双调套曲内。水面云山：金山本在长江中（清末江沙淤积始与南岸相连），故云。云山：形容山势高峻，云烟缭绕。山上楼台：金山寺的殿宇楼台，依山而建，气势不凡。此句即指金山寺。诗句成：诗句吟成。意含不大的功夫。云山动色：时转云移，景色改观。天地忘怀：忘记了天地之间的一切事物。蓬莱：传说中的海上三神山之一，此喻金山。霾：本指由于大气混浊使人看不清景况。也作淹埋之意。
