曾绝朱缨吐锦茵，欲披荒草访遗尘。
译文：马燧就像楚庄王和丙吉那样仁厚贤良，我拨开荒草前来寻访这位先贤的遗迹。
注释：奉诚园：原是唐代中兴名将马燧（726—795）的园苑，在长安安邑坊内。此诗题注：园，马侍中故宅。“曾绝”句：此句有两处用典。一处为“绝朱缨”，用楚庄王典故。披：分开。遗尘：指前人行动所留的痕迹。
秋风忽洒西园泪，满目山阳笛里人。
译文：秋风中传来的阵阵笛声让人留下泪水，此时的我不禁深深地怀念着先贤马燧。
注释：西园：东汉末年曹植所建，故址在今河北临漳。当时曹植建西园和建安诸诗友宴游。经乱，曾参会的刘桢重至感怀乃至潸然泪下。山阳笛：晋向秀和嵇康、吕安友善，后嵇、吕皆被杀，向秀西归过嵇康旧居，听有人吹笛，声嘹亮，因忆旧游，作《思旧赋》，中有“经山阳之旧庐”。后成物是人非之典故。

窦牟（749－822）字贻周，扶风平陵（今陕西咸阳）人。贞元进士，历任留守判官。尚书都官郎中，泽州刺史，终国子司业。历河阳、昭义从事，检校水部郎中，赐绯，再为留守判官。入为都官郎中，出为泽州刺史，入为国子祭酒。长庆二年卒，时年七十四。子周余，大中年秘书监。
